The 53rd Annual Industrial Technology Barbecue demonstrates the long-term support while celebrating the retention, growth and attraction of industrial and technology businesses in San Joaquin USA. This Greater Stockton Chamber tradition is supported daily though assistance retention calls on our industry by community economic developers, the San Joaquin WorkNet, San Joaquin Economic Development
Department and the San Joaquin Partnership. We call this Business Team San Joaquin.
Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) is an economic development strategy of proactively connecting with existing businesses to understand and respond to local business needs.
Expanding existing businesses and a growing available local workforce are key “barometers” of our community’s economic health as a place to locate and grow a new business. On the other hand business closures and relocations are a bad economic sign and cause distress through unpaid obligations and job loss.
Although San Joaquin County communities have suffered a few closures during the recession (General Mills) causing high unemployment retention and expansions have now reduced double digit unemployment to only seven percent. Meanwhile over 18 million square feet of new construction for expansion and location of manufacturing (Tesla) and e-commerce logistics (Medline and Amazon) have created over 5,500 new jobs.
We all know that the average business loses around 20 percent of its customers annually simply by failing to attend to customer relationships. That’s why Business Team San Joaquin makes retention and expansion calls on our major employers and celebrates their success.
Join us for the 53rd Annual Industrial Technology Barbecue Celebration and congratulate our growing existing businesses and meet the newly located businesses that just may be your new customer.
