The bridge crosses the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and North MacArthur drive. Originally built in 1936 as a two-lane roadway, 11th street was expanded to four lanes in 1960. The heavily-traveled artery has deteriorated over time, necessitating improvements.
Planned upgrades include four 12-foot-wide travel lanes heading east and west, two eight-foot-wide bike lanes and pedestrian walkways bordering each side of the bridge.
Final grading for the project’s barrier slab has begun, along with gutter and drainage slope paving. The project will be completed in three stages by the end of the year to minimize traffic.
