State of San Joaquin County on the Rise Reports County Board Chairman Moses Zapien

San Joaquin County is thriving with all indicators of a healthy economy and community on the rise.
“The strength of the county comes from our people," said Moses Zapien, San Joaquin County
Board of Supervisors chairman. "The community is stronger, safer and healthier when we work together on regional issues that transcend borders such as public safety, transportation, agriculture, water, the economy and education. The times call upon us to work together in order to rise together.”
Zapien delivered the State of the County presentation at the Board's meeting Tuesday morning in downtown Stockton. In his presentation, Zapien said planning and responsible leadership were essential and pointed to the board’s five strategic goals it recently adopted, including:
● Ensure fiscal responsibility
● Promote good governance and increase organizational capabilities
● Improve public safety and enhance overall criminal justice system
● Promote economic development, and
● Stay informed and proactive in dealing with water issues
Among the county’s many recent accomplishments, Zapien announced that San Joaquin is projected to lead the state in job growth this year. He also highlighted progress business and industrial developments, such as the Airpark 599 project, a 550-acre mixed-use project aimed at attracting industrial, retail and airport-related businesses to Arch Airport Road and Qantas Lane in Stockton.
The exciting developments at Stockton Metropolitan Airport, including the new flights to San Diego and possible international flights, were also mentioned by Zapien in his assessment of economic development.
