San Joaquin County Economic Base Growing, Diversifying
September 15, 2015
As San Joaquin County continues to grow and advance economically, it is seeing an uptick in the number of manufacturing operations locating to the area.
San Joaquin County Administrator Monica Nino noted that, “San Joaquin County's strategic location
combined with affordable housing, multiple transportation options and prime space for business
expansion, makes the region a magnet for manufacturing companies as well as a wide range of
industries looking to grow their operations.”
Prior to the surge in manufacturing operations, transportation and distribution operations have dominated the market in the county.
The increase in manufacturing companies is a win-win for the companies and the community.
Michael Ammann, chief executive of San Joaquin Partnership, explained that manufacturers usually provide more jobs and pay better wages than distribution centers. “That puts a little more money
circulating in the economy,” he said.
Long known for its prime geographical position that places San Joaquin within a corridor ideally situated for business and industry, the county offers tremendous opportunities to new and existing businesses of all types.
