March 26, 2015
Good news for San Joaquin County. “I’m pleased to report the state of San Joaquin County is strong,” said Kathy Miller, San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors Chairwoman.
Miller delivered a State of the County presentation at the beginning of the board's meeting Tuesday morning in downtown Stockton. In her presentation she discussed county financial policies and economic development as well as health care and public safety topics.
She outlined several initiatives that the county is pursuing to expand the local economy, These initiatives include increasing jobs, keeping citizens safe, providing outstanding health care services to area residents and protecting water and agricultural resources.
Stockton Metropolitan Airport was featured by Miller in her assessment of economic development. She looked forward to the airport handling international passengers and the nearby Airpark599 welcoming new commercial development. “Our airport is a powerful potential economic engine which we must protect and develop.”
Miller also highlighted Innovation Hub San Joaquin, part of a statewide effort to create “research clusters,” as another area of economic development.
